In January we posted about four international students who drowned in Canada in 2020. One of those students was 22 year old Indian international student, Aranyam Bora who was studying at St. Thomas University in New Brunswick, Canada. He was a fourth-year student, majoring in political science and international relations
On 30 September 2020, Aranyam drowned while cliff jumping at the Mactaquac Headpond on the Saint John River in New Brunswick.
His body was found by RCMP divers the next morning.
In a post on 4 April, St. Thomas University’s independent newspaper, The Aquinian, revisited it’s top stories of 2020. The tragic drowning death of Aranyam Bora was one of them. The paper remembered Aranyam – who was called Ary – as ‘full of laughter and life’ and noted that his death deeply impacted the St. Thomas University Community.
