Imposter: a person who pretends to be someone else in order to deceive others, especially for fraudulent gain.

Some scams involve the scammers pretending to be government officials to try and trick you.

The scammers may pretend to be government official from your home country, or the country where you are studying.

Next we’ll look at some of the common types of “government impostor” scams.
